Case Study: Food & Beverage Photography for Ritz Carlton Melbourne & Atria Dining

Client: Ritz Carlton Melbourne & Atria Dining Scope: Food, Beverage & Portrait Photography

Capturing a New Era at Atria, The Ritz-Carlton

It was an honour to collaborate with Ritz Carlton Melbourne on a campaign to announce the new era of its signature restaurant, Atria. I was particularly thrilled as the in-house team developed the brief around my existing portfolio of work with similar fine dining establishments and producers. Perched on level 80, the project was about capturing the very essence of the Atria dining experience—a story told through its elevated menu, world-class cocktails, and breathtaking city views.

Working in close partnership with the team, we created a visual narrative that celebrated the new Executive Chef’s creative direction. A key part of the brief was to shoot on a variety of the venue’s own surfaces—from textured stone to rich textiles—directly tying the food to the unique materiality of the interiors. This approach focused on the artistry of each dish, highlighting the vibrant textures of locally sourced produce and the thoughtful plating that speaks to both seasonality and sophistication. Beyond the menu, we captured intimate portraits of the chef and his team and the exquisite detail of the cocktails to build a complete and compelling story.

Using a blend of natural and shaped studio light, the goal was to bring a tangible warmth and depth to each frame—balancing a polished, editorial finish with the inviting energy of a truly world-class hospitality experience.

The final images are now being featured across The Ritz-Carlton’s press releases and digital channels, introducing the new vision for Atria to Melbourne’s fine dining audience.

A Project I Loved: Creating the Story for Décor’s New Packaging

Some projects arrive with a sense of ease right from the start. That was the case when the team at Noisy Beast got in touch about a new packaging project for Décor’s Design Series. They were looking for food photography that could help shape the visual story of the range — something atmospheric, tactile and quietly expressive.

The brief wasn’t about simply showing food. It was about creating a feeling. The imagery needed to suggest elevated home baking in a way that felt considered and inviting, while still standing out on shelf. That balance between restraint and impact is where I’m most comfortable working.

In the studio, the focus stayed on light, texture and detail. Working with food stylist Carmel Gohar, we spent time exploring how small shifts in shadow and composition could change the mood of an image. Dark crumbs against matte surfaces, the softness of banana bread, the weight and warmth of freshly baked food — all of it was photographed slowly, with attention to how it would translate once printed.

Nothing was overworked. The goal was to keep the food feeling real and tactile, allowing the imagery to carry the tone of the range by feeling elevated yet approachable.

Seeing the final photographs living on the finished packaging is always rewarding. It’s a reminder of how food photography can quietly shape a brand’s world —  by being considered and thoughtful.

Projects like this reflect the way I approach food photography in Melbourne — using light, texture and atmosphere to create images that feel grounded, expressive and built to last across packaging, campaigns and digital use.

Lemnos Fetta

FMCG Food Photography for Lemnos Feta in a Bag

Melbourne Food Photographer | Product & Packaging Photography

I was recently commissioned to photograph Lemnos’ new Feta in a Bag range—an innovation in convenience for the dairy aisle. Working alongside talented food stylist Carmel Gohar and creative agency Show Pony, we created a series of campaign images designed to highlight the ease of use and versatility of this new product format.

Unlike traditional feta blocks, this product is pre-crumbled and packaged in a resealable pouch, making it ideal for quick meals and no-fuss prep. The brief was to visually differentiate it from existing Lemnos products and clearly communicate the time-saving benefits.

We styled and shot two fresh, approachable recipes that showcase the feta in everyday settings: a vibrant beetroot salad and a classic smashed avo on toast. The clean compositions, natural light, and vibrant colour palette were chosen to appeal to modern home cooks and reflect the product’s simplicity and freshness.

This campaign was produced by Hell Studios and designed for use across digital, social, and retail advertising. As an experienced FMCG food photographer based in Melbourne, I focus on creating compelling visuals that balance emotional appeal with commercial clarity—tailored to suit each product and brand story.

The Farmers Butcher

Butcher Photography Melbourne

Lifestyle food & butcher photography for The Farmers Butcher in Brighton.

The Farmer’s Butcher is a unique meat supplier that is dedicated to creating connections between customers and the farmers who raise the animals. Sylvia, the Primary Producer at Bass Coast Farm, has been using low stress stock handling techniques to farm Angus beef and Australian White lamb for the past 13 years. She has built a network of primary producers who share the same ethos regarding livestock management and small-scale production.

Sylva commissioned me to photograph her meat products for her newly opened store in Brighton and some lifestyle images of her farm and livestock. We came up with a clean minimal look for the food photography to let the high quality produce speak for itself with minimal styling. I spent an afternoon at her gorgeous farm on the Bass coast where we captured her at work with the animals.

Glad Christmas Campaign

Case Study: Glad Australia Christmas Campaign

This Christmas campaign for Glad Australia came together just before the holiday break, with a tight turnaround and a very small window to shoot. Because of the timing, the brief was clear: capture the idea almost entirely in camera, without relying on compositing or heavy post-production.

The concept was simple but exacting — food styled into the shape of a Christmas tree, balanced on a fork. Working closely with food stylist Peta Grey, we spent time engineering the structure so it felt light and playful, even though it required careful planning and a steady hand to hold together under studio conditions.

The shoot leaned heavily on food photography fundamentals: balance, texture, freshness and light. Every element had to work within a single frame. Lighting was kept clean and controlled to preserve detail and colour, while negative space helped the image stay clear and legible without feeling rigid or overworked.

Rather than showing the product directly, the imagery relied on suggestion and atmosphere to carry the seasonal message. The final images felt festive and joyful, but still restrained — designed to hold their own across large-format advertising and brand placements.

Projects like this reflect the way I approach food photography in Melbourne — focused on structure, light and timing, and creating images that work just as well for campaigns as they do for menus, packaging and digital use.

Kettle Crafted Collection

FMCG Food Photography for Kettle Chips Crafted Collection

Client: Kettle / The Edison Agency
Styling: Lee Blaylock (Food Stylist)
Location: Melbourne

I was recently commissioned to shoot the packaging photography for Kettle’s new Crafted Collection—a premium FMCG range celebrating elevated flavour profiles and artisanal ingredients. Working alongside talented food stylist Lee Blaylock, we collaborated closely with the team at Melbourne-based Edison Agency to deliver a series of front-of-pack and hero images that reflected the sophistication and richness of the new product line.

This project called for visually impactful food imagery that felt indulgent, earthy, and authentic—aligned with the Crafted Collection’s unique flavour pairings: Black Truffle, Angus Beef & Caramelised Onion, and Smoked Butter & Sea Salt.

Over the course of the studio shoot, we focused on creating tactile, textural compositions that brought out the premium nature of the ingredients. Every element—from the crumb of a rustic chip to the gleam of smoked butter—was styled and lit with precision to feel warm, moody, and elevated while remaining natural and appetising.

The resulting images appear across product packaging, in-store promotions, and campaign collateral, playing a key role in the brand’s repositioning of Kettle Chips into a more gourmet, experience-driven space within the FMCG market.

Ginger & Co

Drink product photography for Ginger & Co, Melbourne based producers of delicious & unique superfood latte, chai & herbal tea

Ginger & Co came to me with a brief to create images of their products that could be used on their website, digital marketing and social media. They wanted a light bright and minimalist feel to complement their existing branding, packaging and website as well as to convey a clean and healthy feel.

We worked with food and prop Stylist Lee Blaylock who brought the brief to life with her use of white toned props and elegant minimalist styling. The light tones provided a neutral background and allowed the products to be the focus the image. I used bright lighting with strong shadows to create depth, texture and visual interest to the images.

We produced around 11 images from a full day shoot in the studio.

Yarra Yering

Wine Bottle Photography for Yarra Yering Winery in the Yarra Valley.

Yarra Yering’s brief was to photograph all of their 13 wine varietals and create imagery that could be used on their website, as well as print and digital advertising.

They had recently won several awards and were in need of some impactful product imagery that they could send out to media as well as continue to use to promote their wines.

Yarra Yering had provided a list of tasting notes for each wine to create a story around each of the different varietals. We worked with a stylist to develop this and she sourced a variety of food, botanicals and other elements to represent the flavour notes of the wines.

Ballantyne Butter

Recipe and product photography for Ballantyne Butter.

Melbourne based butter producer Ballantyne wanted to create a series of images to introduce their new range of cultured rolled butter.

As it’s a premium product Ballantyne asked us to feature slightly elevated recipes using the product that would still appeal to a broad audience.  We worked with a food stylist to create the recipes and on the shoot to style the food and props.

The result was a series of 5 hero images styled and shot with and with ought the product in a variety of crops so the images would be flexible across all platforms including website banners, social media and digital marketing.

The highlight of the shoot was the deliciously decadent macadamia and salted caramel chocolate tart!
