Product Photographer Melbourne
Hannah Caldwell is a Melbourne-based product photographer with more than twenty years of commercial experience creating refined, high-end imagery for brands, agencies and retailers across Australia. Her product photography is built on the same principles as her still life and food work — precision with light, close attention to material and surface, and a considered approach to composition that gives every object its own visual presence. Whether the end use is e-commerce, packaging, catalogue, brand campaign or social media, the imagery is crafted to perform across every platform.
What I photograph
Product imagery for skincare and wellness brands, beauty and personal care products, packaging and label photography for premium consumer goods, lifestyle and brand content for non-food product ranges, objects and materials for interior, design and homewares brands, and e-commerce photography for online retail, wholesale and catalogue.
Approach
I approach product photography the same way I approach still life — with close attention to light, material and form. Each product has a character and a context. My role is to find the visual conditions that make that character readable: the right surface, the right light quality, the right amount of space around the subject. The result is imagery that feels considered and purposeful — built to work across packaging, digital platforms and brand campaigns without dating quickly.
For brands that need both hero imagery and volume e-commerce shots, I work efficiently across both styles within a single session, keeping the visual language consistent while adapting to the requirements of each format.
How a product shoot works
Every project starts with a conversation about the brand, the products and the intended use of the imagery. From there I develop a shot plan covering hero compositions, detail shots, and any lifestyle or in-context setups required. Shoots take place either at my studio in St Kilda East or on location. Post-production includes colour-accurate retouching, background work where needed, and delivery in formats suited to web, print, packaging or social media. Typical turnaround is five to ten business days depending on the scope.

Frequently asked questions
What types of products do you photograph?
Skincare, wellness, beauty, personal care, packaging, homewares, premium consumer goods and branded materials. If the product needs to look refined and intentional, it is likely a good fit.
Do you shoot e-commerce and hero imagery in the same session?
Yes. Many clients need both clean e-commerce shots and styled hero images for campaigns or social media. I structure sessions to cover both efficiently so the visual language stays consistent across formats.
Can you shoot on location or at my premises?
I can work from my studio in St Kilda East, Melbourne or travel to your location. For larger product ranges or items that are difficult to transport, on-location shoots are often the most practical option.
What is the typical turnaround for product photography?
Most projects are delivered within five to ten business days. Larger catalogues or projects requiring extensive retouching may take longer — I will confirm timing during the planning stage.
